Practice with a purpose... more than just drills and physical repetition, Pine Tar Academy instructors believe the development of young ballplayers is a progressive process requiring time, purposeful direction, and focus. Accordingly, we promote a positive and energetic learning environment. There is so much to this game, just as many other areas of life, that it is unwise for a player to hinder their chances to improve by thinking they know it all. After all, if a player did know it all, they would have no need for instruction! Extending beyond the mechanics of a swing or the fundamentals of a throw, our lessons are focused on a larger goal. The habits and approach that our instructors promote (learned while becoming a more competitive ballplayer) relate to long-term success in life. PTA students learn the value of hard & smart work, failing productively, and the importance of focusing in the moment. These are just a few intangibles that will help youth strive for excellence in all aspects of their lives. Simply put, a student does not have to be the best to try their best. And the best part.... These habits, memories, and relationships formed at the ballpark last a lifetime. Sincerely, Jay Mikenas Founder & Director of Player Development Pine Tar Academy, Inc. |
