- Played Collegiate Baseball at Division-1 Clemson University
- Served 4 years as a bullpen catcher for the MN Twins
- Hoby has been teaching Pine Tar Academy lessons, camps and clinics since 2007
- Hoby is a Volunteer fireman and Certified EMT with the Excelsior Fire Department as well as an avid
hockey player
