| Neil Lerner's Career Highlights 2008 marks Neil Lerner's third year as the head coach of the Hopkins High School Baseball Team. Hopkins finished with a perfect 8-0 record in the Classic Lake (16-6 overall), the first and only time this feat has been acomplished. The Royals followed this up with another 16-win season in 2007 en route to their second consectutive Classic Lake Conference Championship. From 2000-2005 Coach Lerner served as an assistant coach at Concordia University, St. Paul. Lerner was part of the coaching staff that helped lead the Golden Bears to the NSIC Conference Championship in 2003. Coach Lerner has served as an instructor through Lunch McKenzie's Baseball USA since 1998. He has led private and group lesons and has been a featured speaker at high school coaches clinics. A Hopkins High School grad, Lerner earned All-Metro and All-State honors in high school. He went on to a successful college career at St. Olaf, where he twice was named All-MIAC, and during his senior year was named team captain, All Midwest Region, and All-American. When Neil is not on the baseball field, he works as a junior high social studies teacher at Hopkins West Junior High. He and his wife Kate live in Eden Prairie with their 2 year-old daughter, Sonia. |
